There’s so much to celebrate in life. All over the world, someone is celebrating a special moment with their loved ones, creating memories together.
Birth of a baby, a job promotion, a sweet 16 birthday, opening of a new office space, Christmas, New Year, and the most commonly celebrated occasion of all - love.
A couple of months ago, we had the pleasure to celebrate with Chin Feng and Shu Ling as they spend their 1st wedding anniversary in their cosy nest, which they lovingly refer to as #ChiLingLoft.
You remind me of a place, a place called home.
A home built out of love. A home built out of choice. A home built with you
Together with Fellow Folks, we discussed with the couple and came up with an idea of having a home party themed styled shoot. It was meant to encapsulate the relationship they share with one another, in this new stage of life together, as a married couple (with 2 furkids!). It was a celebration of togetherness, and cherishing loved ones who stood by their side all these while.
Concept + Design
#ChiLingLoft is filled with classy elements that we believe will withstand the test of time and trends. Without sacrificing aesthetics, the couple built plenty of storage space in their home and it definitely helped to keep the space clutter-free! They also had splashes of statement color throughout the house and the emerald wall was definitely a big hit among the fans of #ChiLingLoft.
Fellow Folks brought along a burnt orange table runner and it complemented the space oh-so-well!
Laid across the table were vases of varying heights - symbolising the challenges faced by the couple in their journey as they do life together, as well as the joyous moments they share when a goal is attained. Flanked with candles and custom made wooden candle blocks, the chief of Fellow Folks even snuck in mini pineapples in the overall table arrangement! Can you spot them?
The magical hands behind Fellow Folks also created a floral installation featuring shades of muted colour florals, paired with a balloon garland to conceal the TV console, and at the same time creating a statement piece in the cosy home.
Personalisation
What’s your language of love? Shu Ling and I share the same language of love - words.
I roped in a good friend of mine, Alma Altamis to write a poem for the couple to summarise their journey as a couple. The poem was then calligraphed by Mylin on a fabric panel, meant to be as a gift to the couple to display in their home after the styled shoot.
Of all the adventures I’ve had this far
Living this life with you
Cherishing the calm and
Braving the storms
Brings meaning to life anew
Chin Feng and Shu Ling didn’t have a complete family portrait with both their furkids - Logan and Ninja, so we took matters into our own hands and Mylin worked her magic to draw the outline of all 4 of them, to be placed right above the poem. It is now complete, truly.
Accompanied by the floral arrangement, it was such a warm welcome to guests.
Ahh, what an entrance. I truly believe that personalisation doesn’t have to be extravagant, don’t you agree? It is little details and touches like these that makes everything just that much more meaningful.
Photography
After B and I decided on the overall look and feel, we were shortlisting photographers to work with, to produce the frames that we had in mind. We believe that every photographer have their own distinct style, and thus it was important to us to find someone who will be able to translate our vision to reality.
Brandon from Lensofmira very kindly agreed to come onboard and we cannot be anymore grateful!
Brandon was great at asking the couple the right questions to make them feel more comfortable, more at ease and most importantly, he was able to capture true emotions of the couple.
He asked questions that would enable the couple to have mini reflections on their journey together as a couple, and that really helped to elevate emotions in the atmosphere. In that moment, the love that they have for each other just came through, again and again.
Of course, there were also light hearted moments where the couple could also learn more about each other and have a good laugh at the same time.
For example, before capturing this shot, Brandon said “When I count to three, pick up the item that you think is the most interesting on the table!”
Any guesses on what was Chin Feng’s pick that made Shu Ling smile so widely?

Outfits
For her wedding last year, Shu Ling customised a wedding dress with Caramel & Co. She had a detachable skirt and it was dyed to a light shade of pink specially for the celebratory shoot. We paired it with a darker pink bodysuit from Perk by Kate and it gave off a fun yet dreamy vibe, just what we envisioned for the celebration.
Unwinding after a long day of celebration might mean slow music and a glass of wine for most people, but to Chin Feng and Shu Ling, they chose to end the day with more fun and lots of confetti (and did we mention disco balls and huge orbs?)
Shu Ling wore a bralette from Perk by Kate, and paired it with a pair of white high waisted pants for that extra comfort.
Makeup & Hair Styling // Accessories
The first look created by Makeup Artist Dawn was one with pink tones on the eyelids and natural lip color, to complement the shades of pink being worn by Shu Ling - the bodysuit and light pink repurposed wedding skirt.
A gold headpiece by Talia was the star of the overall look - with its intricate gold leaves and twigs, it was delicate yet strong, just like the character of our star of the day.
For the evening look, Dawn played around with gold and champagne tones, while adding some uber cute mini stars around the eyes. Styling shorter hair may warrant you less variation to play around with, but it definitely doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun while at it! Just like how Dawn created an updo for Shu Ling, the hairdo was screaming FUN all the way!
To complete each look, Shu Ling picked earrings by Andy Accessories to add a touch of fun and character! Being the co-founder of the local label BASIS Singapore, Shu Ling’s sense of style is something that I personally adore. It is timeless, classy and most importantly it is extremely wearable and attainable for everyday-look. It is sustainable in the long run, having pieces of clothing and accessories that you can envision yourself wearing more than once.
Thank you Chin Feng and Shu Ling, for opening up your home and hearts to us; allowing us to use your space and trusting us to style your home for the celebratory shoot. It was truly our honour to be able to witness the love that you have for each other, and we are so inspired by your relationship that showed nothing but strength and amazing team work.
Wishing you both a (belated) wedding anniversary!
May your marriage continue to grow stronger and better each day :)
This celebratory styled shoot would not be possible without these amazing vendors/individuals.
